“Who’s Listening” – Interactive Workshop for the team at Granite 5
16 January 2025
The team at digital agency Granite 5 joined Dame Evelyn Glennie to participate in a powerful listening workshop – an extraordinary opportunity to rethink how they engaged with each other and their customers, by exploring the profound impact of attentive, profound listening.
The workshop began with an introduction to the concept of “whole-body listening,” where Dame Evelyn demonstrated how to fully absorb and interpret sounds, silence, and the subtleties of human interaction. This immersive experience helped participants understand the importance of being fully present, both as listeners and communicators.
One of the key exercises encouraged them to work collaboratively through non-verbal communication. This highlighted how much can be achieved without words, by truly focusing on one another’s intentions and actions. As a team, they learned to pay greater attention to the energy, rhythm, and emotion behind interactions—a skill we have already begun applying in our daily work.
The team recognised the profound impact the workshop had on them:
“It taught us to listen not just with our ears, but with our entire selves, fostering deeper understanding and empathy. Whether collaborating with colleagues or engaging with clients, we now approach conversations with greater attentiveness and openness. This shift has already improved our communication, enhanced our teamwork, and strengthened our client relationships.”
“The Foundation’s workshop reminded us that listening is not just a skill, but an art form—one that has the power to transform connections and drive meaningful outcomes. As we continue to incorporate these practices into our work, we are excited to see the long-term benefits they bring to our business and beyond.”
